Call for Cloth Workshops at Glasgow Women’s Library
Thursday 25 August, Thursday 8 September, Wednesday 14 September, Thursday 22 September and Thursday 6 October 2016, All sessions 2.30-4.30pm
As Glasgow Women’s Library prepares for the Tall Tales exhibition to arrive in the Autumn, we’re inviting you to take part in a series of creative workshops with artists Joanna Peace, Lauren Sagar and Liz Wewiora.
Inspired by the stories we tell about cloth and clothing, we will print with tie-dye, play with light and patterns, share stories and record them, and make a new artwork which will be shown as part of the Tall Tales programme.
Workshops are free. Please book in advance if you can.

The Chandelier of Lost Earrings at Glasgow Women’s Library
Saturday 17 September, 12-4pm
The Chandelier of Lost Earrings arrives on Saturday 17 September, at Glasgow Women’s Library, as a taster of the full exhibition to come this October. The work will be in situ to coincide with the Glasgow Open Doors Day, part of a national Heritage weekend across the UK. You can find out more about the open day here

Tall Tales Exhibition Preview Evening at Glasgow Women’s Library

Performance recital from novelist Jenn Ashworth, 5.30pm
To mark Tall Tales in Scotland, celebrated novelist Jenn Ashworth responds to the work of artist Alison Erika Ford, with Q&A chaired by International 3 Director Paulette Brien.
Performance by artist Beth Collar, 7pm
Award winning artist Beth Collar delved into the GWL archives during her 2014 Tall Tales residency. Collar’s research manifested as sculptures of women’s faces. The artist will perform at the launch and give some voice to some of the more unusual stories she came across in the GWL archive and that have informed her work.

Tall Tales Open Day at Glasgow Women’s Library
Saturday 22 October 2016, 12-4pm
Join us for the day and take part in exhibition tours, screenings, and discussion.Celebrate and share your thoughts.
12.15pm: Tall Tales exhibition tour led by Glasgow Women’s Library members.
1 -2.15pm: Tall Tales artists’ film screening and guest speaker.
2.30-3.45pm: Tea and conversation with Tall Tales artists and audiences, hosted by Adele Patrick of Glasgow Women’s Library

Akerman Daly are also working in collaboration with artist Ruth Barker on a new on-line publishing body of work, inspired by and in connection to the artist’s recent performance at Freud Museum, The Foot Exerts a Pressure on the Surface of the Glass.
